Volcanoes and Earthquakes

I believe earthquakes are more dangerous than volcanoes for a number of reason. When volcanoes are a real threat they are often spewing lava, but lava flows and the speed of the flows are pretty predictable. People can easily run out of the way of oncoming lava. Earthquakes are unpredictable completely and the damage they cause can be horrendous for both, fatality rates and the economy (in terms of property damage)

One example of volcanic destrution is with Mt. St. Helen in Washington in 1980.
